London : printed for J. T. Smith and sold by R. Rejan and J. Manson, 1807. First Edition. Hardcover. Near fine copy half aniline calf over marble boards with gilt-blocked label to the spine. Spine starting with minor wear to the panel edges as with age. Remains well-preserved overall; tight, bright, clean and sharp-cornered. Physical description; xv, 276 p., 38 plates : illus ; 35 cm. Notes; Text by J. S. Hawkins. After a quarrel with Smith, Hawkins' work was revised by other hands, and his name was omitted at his own request from the title page. This work contains copies of manuscipts which throw new and unexpected light on the ancient history of the arts in England. Subject; Palace of Westminster.
