About This Item
Boston: G K Hall. Very Good. 1988. First Edition. Hard Cover. 6" By 9.5" Tall Original green cloth with bright gilt lettering on spine, xxxvii, 316 pp. Frontis. Approximately 1,500 entries. A selective annotated bibliography of published sources (primary and secondary) relating to art and architecture from 1550 to 1620 of what is now Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the regions of Bohemia and Moravia in Czechoslovakia, Slovenia in Yugoslavia, Silesia and Pomerania with Gdansk (Danzig) and East Prussia. After a section on sources, and one on general works, which takes note of broader surveys or studies pertaining to the period, the bibliography is organized by region, or artistic center, arranged alphabetically. Within each section, material is subdivided first according to more general studies of the region, city, or court, then according to studies of collecting or patronage, and finally according to medium. Media follow in the sequence architecture, sculpture, painting, drawings and prints, and ornament or applied and decorative arts. Where many separate localities or individual artists are included in a subdivision, these are listed alphabetically. Finally, individual entries within subdivisions (as within the alphabetically arranged artists or localities) are listed chronologically, by date of publication. With an index of authors. Very Good. .
