Philadelphia: H.C. Carey & I. Lea, 1826. First edition. leather_bound. Full crushed red levant morocco. Aeg. Fine. 353 pages. 14.5 x 9 cm. Literature by James Kirk Paulding, William Cullen Bryant, Catherine Sedgwick et al. Paulding who served as Secretary of the Navy probably authored "Biographical Sketch of Admiral Paul Jones." Contents contain twenty-four titles of varying lengths. "The Catholic Iroquois," is one of the longer articles. Full page engravings also presented, one engraved by Fairman and Childs [Gideon Fairman and Cephas Childs] prominent engravers of the period for a portrait by English artist William Brockedon. Light, scattered toning in immaculate binding, green velvet endpapers, inner dentelles, raised bands, spine panels in elaborate gilt motifs and cover borders paneled in floral designs.
