11 Grosvenor Square, 16 December 1851. 1 page 7 x 4 inches, trace of mounting. George Thomas Keppel, 6th Earl of Albemarle (1799-1891), joined the 3rd Battalion 14th Foot just six weeks before seeing action at the Battle of Waterloo. He wrote a number of travel books: Personal Narrative of a Journey from India to England, by Bussorah, Bagdad, The Ruins of Babylon, Curdistan, The Court of Persia, The Western Shore of the Caspian Sea, Astrakhan, Nishney, Novogorod, Moscow, and St. Petersburgh in the Year 1824. 2 vols, 1827); Personal Narrative of Travels in Babylonia, Assyria, Media and Scythia (1827); Narrative of a Journey across the Balcan (1831).
