Light rubbing on the corners of the dustjacket; pencil mark on the front. The book has a partial crease on the front cover with a bindery ripple on the spine; no interior markings. The scan shows the dustjacket on the left, the book on the right. Dustjacket art by B. Barton; cover art by Cirlin. This is the novel that put Sinclair Lewis over the top for the Nobel Prize in literature; and the name Babbitt became the accepted word for the basically mindless businessman who conforms to all of society's expected standards..

Synopsis

Babbitt , by Sinclair Lewis, was first published in 1922. This novel is a satire of American culture.  It critiques society and the socially-acceptable behavior of middle-class American life and its pressure on individuals toward conformity.
