About World of Books Ltd West Sussex, United Kingdom

Biblio member since 2007

In 2002, World of Books was founded on an ethos to do good, protect the planet, and support charities by enabling more goods to be reused. Since then, we've grown into a global pioneer, dedicated to helping people read more and waste less. Through the World of Books brand, customers can now buy and sell with us! We provide affordable, preloved books to book lovers all around the world, while also giving people the opportunity to contribute to the circular economy, earn money and protect the planet by trading in their unwanted books and media for cash. Through the B2B side of our business we've developed technology to help charities sell in bulk, meaning they can clear much needed floor space and make money for great causes at the same time. A new book will be sold once but their stories can be enjoyed by more than one owner. After all, a story doesn't change because it's been read before!

Bake it Great will be the first book from 'Great British Bake Off' finalist Luis Troyano. The Manchester-based graphic designer wowed the nation with his striking and ambitious creations and now he wants to pass on his knowledge of how to make your bakes outstanding in this book of 100 recipes.

Not content with making something taste great, Luis wants it to look great as well - he believes even the simplest of bakes can be show-stopping, from Bakewell cupcakes to eye-catching centrepiece breads. And it doesn't stop there, with Luis' help even the novice baker can work their way up to an ambitious gteau and know that it will turn out spectacular. Luis' simple tips and meticulous instructions will demystify the art of baking, from getting to know your oven, to the finer arts of finishing, meaning you simply can't go wrong.

Chapters on cakes, breads, sweet doughs, snacks and slices, tarts, pies and pastries, with focus chapters on Spanish recipes and cooking with honey, mean that the basics are all covered. With plenty of unusual and fun suggestions too, in particular rarely-seen classics from Luis' Spanish upbringing and some truly novel presentation ideas, this book will enlarge any baker's repertoire.

About the author

Luis Troyano, a trained graphic designer, beekeeper and baking obsessive, was a finalist on series 5 of The Great British Bake Off. He became known for his ingenious designs and achieved 'some of the most stunning bakes to ever grace the Bake Off tent'. A self-taught cook, Luis has a passion for experimenting with new flavours and ingredients. As a child he spent every summer in Spain with his mother's family and was brought up with Spanish and Mediterranean food which influences his cooking and baking today. Luis thinks it's the little boy in him that enjoys the chemistry of mixing all the ingredients together and seeing what happens. The artist in him enjoys the perfecting the look and decoration of a bake. In addition to running his graphic design business, Luis writes a successful blog and runs baking courses at the Seasoned Cookery School in Derbyshire. He lives in Stockport, Manchester, with his wife.
