Ninth novel by this West Virginia author, best known for 'The Night of the Hunter.' Like most of his novels, this is set in the 1930s during the Depression in the mining country of West Virginia. Farjeon, driven from his farm, wanders into the town of Glory, only to have his young pregnant wife killed in a clash between the striking miners and the strikebreakers. 350 pp.
