Detroit: Privately Printed for the Author. Very Good+ with no dust jacket. 1876. First Edition :. Hardcover. 12mo hardcover, 1/4 black leather spine over dark buckram cloth, tight binding, pages white unmarked and still rather fresh, none marked or torn, the covers have light shelfwear, in clear mylar wrap, else VG+++ or slightly better. Contains all 6 illustrations, all in excellent condition. The bark house built in 1834; the last plate shows his last house built in 1854, nicer and larger. Told by early Michigan pioneer who built a house west of Dearbornville (a 26 mile walk to Detroit). Tells a complete tale much on cutting trees, logging and clearing land. Logs to be burned, stumps to be pulled or professionals who paid 25 cents per stump at that time, etc etc. This book is a classic in pioneer life and listed in Howes and in 100 Michigan Rarities, etc. ; 12mo 7" - 7½" tall; 250 pages pages .
