Hardcover with slipcase, published by The Heritage Press, 1956. Originally published in the Illustrated London News in 1892, and then included in the short story collection 'Island Nights' Entertainments'. The story of John Wiltshire, a sea faring trader of copra, who finds himself arranged to be married to Uma, a native of the South Pacific island of Falesa. Illustrated by Millard Sheets. 156 pages, sewn binding, 7-1/8" X 10-1/2". Includes the slipcase box. Outer slipcase box is intact, all corners are intact, very little wear to the box. Red-brown cloth covered cover boards, with a South Pacific style design and the title imprinted on the spine. No former ownership marks, no writing on the text pages. Binding is tight and square. Not a library discard, not a remainder. Attached photos are of the copy we have in our inventory.
