About This Item
New York, New York: Delacorte Press, 1971. First American Edition First Printing . Hardcover. Fair/No Jacket. Aldridge, Alan (Illustrator). Vol 2 of this highly collectible collection of lyrics to some of the Beatles' best songs, selected & illustrated with fantastic psychedelic drawings by the young British designer who was a friend of the group, Alan Aldridge, complemented by other full-color images contributed by a wide-range of artists, including Peter Max, David Hockney, Erte, Ronald Searle, & more (listed on back DJ). Drawings & lyrics are interspersed with some autobiographical comments obtained from the Beatles themselves, in which they offer insider interpretations of what they were thinking when they wrote the songs. 125 pages, with psychedelic images of the Fab 4 in full color by Peter Max gracing the endpapers. Orig. published in London, this is the FIRST AMERICAN EDITION, First Printing from 1971. Hardcover book has glossy peach paper covered boards with a crying flower in center of front cover. Condition is Fair downgraded primarily due to these flaws: 1) cracked binding, such that front hinge is split at front endpapers, back cover-spine interface is cracked, but sloppily reglued; 2) moderate edgewear & rubbing to extremities, heaviest at corners. Interior is very clean, binding tight & square, pages modestly tanned, heavier around edges. Former owner's name in neat pen crossed out on verso of ffep, else unmarked. We are also offering another copy of this book in VG condition with its DJ (see listing #017464). Our photos depict the Exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have! Same Day Shipping on all orders received by 2 pm Weekdays (Pacific); later orders, Weekends & holidays ship very next business day.
