Reader reviews for A Bee in the Sheets

From the publisher

"A Bee in the Sheets" traces the poet's journey across sexual boundaries and through cultural landscapes from urban America to Japan and finally to the crypto-judea of northern New Mexico, where she enters a new relationship with land, body, lover, and child. Insects, those wands of life force, act as the poet's strict muse throughout. Her poems speak of eating and being eaten: ungovernable hungers, gnawing fears, ganas, nursing, the devouring quality of vision and the way what is seen clearly also devours; of the dissolution of restrictive codes, gender roles, prescribed selves, old skins, and linear time; and of the tensions between staked loyalties and lust's override, between history and faith, the body and the void, telegraphic reports of the numinous, and immersion in the music of language.
