Haggard's final story is set in Ancient Babylon, and describes the Egyptian prince Ramose as he attempts to rescue his wife from the King of Babylon.H. Rider Haggard (1856-1925) was an English novelist primarily known for his works of adventure fiction, including 'She' and 'King Solomon's Mines'. The majority of his works have exotic settings, primarily Africa, and he was an extremely prolific writer, producing over fifty novels, three short story collections and a number of non-fiction works and works published in periodicals. His works have been adapted for screen many times, with this work made into a 1922 South African film.This is a first edition, first impression.With thirty-two pages of publisher's advertisements bound to the rear.This is a scarce work, with only 2500 copies produced. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally very smart, slight bumping to the head and tail of the spine and otherwise minor wear. Internally firmly bound, pages are bright and clean, with the odd spot. Very Good
