For more than ten years and over seventy installments, Powell's Books (Portland) has been issuing their semi-monthly INDIESPENSABLE series, a subscription-only selection of specially-produced, (typically) limited edition volumes from many of the most prominent names in literature (Claire Messud, George Saunders, Michael Chabon, Annie Proulx, Donna Tartt, J.M. Coetzee, Jeffrey Eugenides, Jonathan Franzen, Siri Hustvedt) and publishing (McSweeney's, Graywolf, Algonquin). Installments commonly include a signed and slipcased recent release, as well as one or more promotional titles (usually ARCs or the like, but sometimes advance excerpts). 9'' x 6''. Original gilt-stamped blue cloth. In original pictorial dust jacket by Eric Marsch with removable McSweeney's sticker to rear panel. 624 pages. Two Indiespensable subscriber enclosures laid in as issued. Signed in Sharpie on title page by six contributors, of whom Eggers, A.M. Homes, Rick Moody, and Jess Walter have been identified in descending order of certainty. Minimal edgewear.
