About This Item
This book is being offered at a 30% discount because there are two weak spots where the binding could fail if not handled carefully. The first is between pages 116 and 117 in the first story and the second is at pages 156-57 on the third story.
The Detective Book Club produced volumes of three crime novels from 1942 to 1999. Originally monthly, near the end they dwindled down to just a few per year. Many famous detective and crime novelists had their early works featured in DBC editions. Often, books were published in DBC editions before, or at the same time as they were published in mass market form. A little about our authors:
Mary McMullen Part of a family of mystery writers, McMillen wrote 19 mystery novels without ever resorting to a series formula. Her mother was Helen Reilly and her sister was Ursula Curliss. McMullen died in 1986.
Victor Canning: A prolific writer in the mystery genre, Canning didn't do too much with recurring characters. He had three short series, with the Rex Carver series being the longest at four books. Most of his writing was of stand alone novels, of which he published 50. Canning passed away in 1986. This novel was also published as Boy on Platform One.
Jonathan Gash: Gash, a doctor of tropical medicine, also wrote under the names John Grant and Graham Gaunt. He had two detective series, one consisting of five books featuring Dr. Clare Burtonall and 24 featuring a sleuth known as Lovejoy. He also had five stand alone novels. This is the fifth Lovejoy novel.
