Book #9 in the girls' series of 26 books orig. published 1934-1955 featuring the adventurous Beverly Gray, starting when she was a college student & following her through her career as a reporter. Orig. published in 1939, then reprinted by Grosset & Dunlap, this is a later printing of their edition, listing to Self in front matter & BG#10 front DJ flap, but retaining the first cover art. Hardcover small 8vo has medium green cloth over boards, lettered in darker green to front & spine, in 251 pages + 3 pages of ads for other girls' series in rear, with a glossy frontispiece. Condition is VG+: very clean, binding strong & straight, hinges secure. Pages mildly tanned, heavier around edges, commensurate with age & paper quality, but completely unmarked. Mild-moderate rubbing to extremities, bumping to all corners & both ends of spine. Dust dulling & light spotting to exterior fore edge. The unclipped DJ is VG: bright & clean, but with several small chips to both ends of spine & corners, a few short, unclosed tears at extremities; nicely protected in new clear mylar cover Free!
