Rinehart & Company, New York, 1952. Edition Unstated. Hardcover. Very Good Condition/Very Good. Illustrator: Bernard Safran (dust jacket). Book VG HB in VG- DJ, now protected by archival Mylar cover. 249 p.; 20 cm. Dark grey textured paper over boards with gilt and black title on spine. Novel of the conflict between large landowners and small ranchers in the Wyoming Powder River country during the blizzard of 1888. Presumed first edition. Size: Duodecimo (12 mo; up to 7 3/4" / 17.5-20 cm tall). Item Type: Book. Text block is tight and unmarked, though the pages are slightly tanned from age. Binding is tight; corners sharp, but the paper is worn through at the tips of the corners and is flaking off at the bottom of the spine. VG- unclipped DJ has some chipping at the tops and bottoms of the folds and spine. The top corner of the free front end paper is torn out (c. 1" x 1"). Illustrator: Bernard Safran (dust jacket).
