An excellent second edition of this insightful work on game hunting from the library of an Arctic explorer. These volumes were published for the Badminton Library of Sports and Pastimes, a project by publishing house Longmans Green and Co developed between 1885 and 1902. It covered all manner of sporting activities and pastimes, and was dedicated to HRH the Prince of Wales, later King Edward VII. It consisted of thirty-three volumes, this being volumes twenty and twenty-one.Written by big game hunter Clive Phillipps-Wolley.Illustrated throughout with photographs and illustrations by Charles Whymper.With the ownership bookplate of Sir Philip Lee Brocklehurst, a member of the Nimrod Expedition to Antarctica led by Ernest Shackleton. He was awarded the Silver Polar Medal in 1909, and was due to join Shackleton's Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition in 1914, but was deployed to Flanders instead.The second edition of this work. In the publisher's original full cloth binding. Externally very smart, with just some slight bumping to the head and tail of the spine; boards are bright. Ownership bookplate to the front pastedown of each volume. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Very Good Indeed
