About This Item

London: Hodder and Stoughton, 1925. Cloth. Very Good. 7.5" by 6". Ernest Thompson Seton. An illustrated copy of one of Ernest Thompson Seton's popular works of nature writing, focusing on the grizzly bear. An illustrated work in the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding. Bookplate to the front free end paper. Ernest Thompson Seton (1860-1946) was an author, wildlife artist, and one of the founders of the Boy Scouts of America. He was a pioneer of wild animal fiction, and many of his books in this genre became very popular, such as this one on the grizzly bear. He was best known for 'Wild Animals I Have Known' and 'Bannertail: The Story of a Gray Squirrel'. His stories often depict predatory animals as sympathetic individuals. Undated, dated through copies held at the British Library. In the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding. Externally sound, with faint marks to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean except for the odd spot to the first and last couple of pages. Very Good
