Dial Press. New York. 1941. Very good green boards with black lettering and drawing of "Moreover" on front. Price clipped jacket is likewise very good with light shelf wear and some age toning to interior of jacket flaps. Stated as First Printing on copyright page.

James Street (1903-1954) worked as a journalist before deciding to become a Baptist minister. Unhappy with the job he quit and went back to journalism. He wrote a short story that was published by Cosmopolitan magazine that was later turned into a hit movie (Nothing Sacred) by David Selznick. A Broadway musical (Hazel Flagg) followed, then another short story was turned into a movie (Living It Up) starring Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis. He later went on to write books about boys and dogs.

The Biscuit Eater was made into a movie in 1940 and again in 1972. Another book (Good-bye, My Lady) was made into a movie in 1956. Young Lonnie wants a dog of his own and so has to raise the runt of the litter. Any dog that eats chicken eggs is called a biscuit eater and will become a poor bird dog. The runt, named Promise, is of course a biscuit eater and so the story begins.....
