[6], vii-x, [2], 3-328 pp. Black cloth with an inset illustration by Wyeth on the front board and gold lettering on the spine; top edge gilt. Decorated endpapers and pastedowns (also done by Wyeth). Illustrated with a pictorial title page and with fourteen color plates by N.C. Wyeth. Allen 219. N.C. Wyeth completed illustrations for adventure novels like Stevenson's Treasure Island, Kidnapped, Defoe's Robinson Crusoe, The Boy's King Arthur, and others. Wyeth was a student of Howard Pyle's, and his signature illustration style remains desirable to readers and collectors of today. A giant in modern American illustration, N.C. Wyeth's indelible images remain the standard for depicting the world of pirates, duels, and escapades during the eighteenth century. A Very Good book with minor rubbing to the tips, a name on the half-title page, and a small stamp on the rear pastedown.

Synopsis
