London: Harper and Brothers, 1901. First edition. Fine Binding. Fine. 9" by 6". None. A fine, first edition copy of Sir Martin Conway's account of his time climbing the Bolivian Andes in 1898. Rebound, in a fine half morocco binding. A very bright example of this work. William Martin Conway, 1st Baron Conway of Allington, was an art critic, politician, cartographer and mountaineer. He went on expeditions worldwide, in Europe, South America and Asia. He penned many titles on mountains, including 'Mountain Memories'. Illustrated throughout. Collated, complete.To this work, Conway discusses the mountains and Inca lands of Bolivia. It was the first expedition of significance in this area. He reached the summit of the difficult peak, Mt Illimani. In addition to this they very nearly reached the summit of Ancohuma. A fantastic copy of this important work, which depicts an important mountaineering account. In a half morocco binding, with cloth covered boards. Externally, fine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright, with just the odd spot. Fine
