First edition. Limited edition. Number 207 of 571. A series of biographies of women. Gently humorous. Philip Guedalla (1889 1944) was a British barrister, and a popular historical and travel writer and biographer. He is remembered now mainly for a biography of the Duke of Wellington, and his wit and epigrams. In a quarter cloth spine, with gilt lettering and decoration, and marbled paper boards. Externally, smart. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spin, with rubbing to the extremities. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean. There is an ink inscription on the half title. Very Good
