Top edge gilt, grey endpapers with inner dentelles, 6 hand colored wood engravings. Unfortunately this book has been damp on the bottom edge and corner with the resulting dampstaining to the pages and affecting the illustrations, tears in the leather at top and bottom of the spine. All edges gilt, coated yellow endpapers, frontispieces with tissue guards, vignette title-pages, notes, table, index, folding color map. The edges and corners are lightly worn, vol. 1 is a little cocked, there is a previous owner's paper glued to the front endpaper of vol. 1, there are some notes neatly written in fountain pen at the end of vol. 2, and a few minor notes in pencil. Woodcut title vignettes (printer's device?), initials, and endpiece. Edited by Johann Erhard Kapp. Inscription in an old hand on one page of first part, and marginal notation on p. 110 of second part in same hand. Occasional mark in light blue or red pencil. In Near Fine Condition: vellum is slightly rubbed; marginalia, as described; otherwise clean and tight.

Finely bound in tan morocco, gilt tooled borders, gilt tooled spine in six compartments with leather labels, tooled edges and inner dentelles. Marbled edges and endpapers, index. Francestown: Typographeum, 1997. Limited private press edition. First edition. Hardcover. Fine copy. 8vo. Bound by Francis Brown in quarter brown morocco with brown buckram sides. Marbled end-papers. T.e.g. One of 10 lettered copies hand-set and printed letterpress and signed by the author. Preserved in a slip-case. No dust-jacket as issued. Includes an essay about what it may have been like to be a printer in the 15th Century, and two more about important printers from that period: Nicolaus Jenson and Aldus Manutius. There is also a chapter of autobiography, about the author's first years in Francestown. Finally there is a reminiscence of a much loved bookseller, David Low.

Very good. 215 p. 215 pp plus 8 pages ads at back A treasure with huge coloured pull-out map in perfect condition. This "Colonial Office Lists" started in 1862, and this is one of the very earliest. Moreover it is in magnificent condition, toned of course. The gilt titling and insignia are bright; corner bumps are minimal with no loss of color, tops of spine are undamaged. Ask for scans so as to see the very minor dark marks on front and back boards. Inside front board in a Victorian hand is written "Governor's Office."I also have 1866

Measures around 8" by 5 3/4" by 1 1/4". Green soft leather binding, gilt edging and detail to boards, gilt college crest to front board, red leather label and gilt lettering and extensive detail to spine. Some scuffing, a little marking, small signs of shelf-wear but overall colouring of leather and gilt detail very vivid apart from rubbing to small part of crest on front board. Binding firm. Corners slightly bumped. Book fans out a little towards outer edges, slight curvature to boards. Page edges and endpapers have attractive marbling. College prizegiving bookplate to front pastedown.
