About This Item
Boriswood Limited, London, 1931. First trade edition. Bookplate of HARPO & SUSAN MARX on the front pastedown. Orange cloth-covered boards, 7 1/2 x 5 1/4 inches, 271 pp. Book very good plus, near fine (slight sunning; slight spotting, cloth; pages crisp, binding tight). Dustcover good (sunning/browning, spine; edgewear with modest chipping, mostly at spine ends; still attractive). From the front panel of the dustcover: "Boy is very remarkable. Your writing is just a transparent medium, through which what you want to say slips invisibly and silently into my mind. I like that: it seems to me the essence of style. Parts of Boy are very painful: yet I think that your sanity and general wholsomeness stick up out of your books a mile high." ("Co. Lawrence --- in a letter to the author"). (1722RO068). 1st Edition. Hardcover. Near Fine/Good.
