Pp. 214; narrow cr. 8vo; pictorial stiff paper wrappers, slightly soiled, edges a trifle rubbed, the upper wrapper lightly creased, backstrip slightly faded; book label of David Levine, Sydney, on verso of upper wrapper, edges of leaves lightly foxed; Sun Books, Melbourne, 1970. First edition thus. *Originally published by Sun Books in two volumes in 1966. Inscribed and signed on the title page by co-translator Geoffrey Dutton and by the author, whose inscription is 'To John Shaw with my best memory about 1973 and our illegal conversation'. John Shaw, was a USSR-based foreign correspondent for various newspapers including the Washington Post and the New York Times,
