The author wrote this work from the comfortable seclusion of one of his many palaces, wherein he enunciates some curious conclusions about America. Abbot relied more on classical and Biblical sources than on sixteenth century works. Yet his Description appears to have had far more appeal to the general public than well-founded accounts of recent geographical discoveries: it was destined to go through seven more editions by 1636." ; The English Experience : Its record in early printed books published in facsimile; Ex-Library; Vol. 213; [68] pages .
