Dust jacket has a few short closed tears and some rubbing; not price clipped ($2.50); in a clear archival sleeve. 320 pages. 8 x 5.5 inches. Novel of a child prodigy, Kyril Chirikov, who comes to live amongst the Russian emigres of the aristocracy on the Riviera. As a child he develops the ability to speak several languages, to play chess with international experts, and to understand complex scientific theories. The story traces the development of Kyril's character and intellect. Donald Culross Peattie (1898-1964) was an American botanist, naturalist and author.
