About This Item

This is an antique copy of "British Duck Decoys of Today, 1918" by J. Whitaker. 1918 1st edition (stated); The Burlington Publishing Co.; London. The book is nicely illustrated with numerous photographs and drawings (many of which are full-page). The chapters are as follows: Decoys and the Taking of Ducks; Buckinghamshire; Interesting Notes about Decoys and Ducks; Ducks Taken Now and Again. From the author's Preface: "I am anxious for my readers to quite understand that this small book is not a history of duck decoys, but only a descriptive list of those that are being worked now.

Found within the book was a sheet of paper that appears to be a handwritten, itemized list of supplies, perhaps to be taken along on a hunting trip or to a log cabin - for example: 50 lb Tbone - 2 1/2" thick; 10 lb Hamburg; 6 doz. china plates 9"; Cigarettes (2c Luckies, 1c Chesterfield, 1c Camels); Case Whiskey, 2 Gin, 3 Vermouth; Ice Cream Cakes; 6 doz. cups for coffee...etc.

Condition:
Light soiling to the covers and spine; the front cover has a couple tiny, dark stains. A piece of the cloth is missing at the top of the spine; small cloth tear at the bottom of the spine. Tiny cloth tear at the left edge of the spine. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. Nice interior with clean text pages. The title page and the last page (138) are tanned. Overall the book is in Very Good condition.
