Cassell and Company, 1900. Limited. . Decorative Cloth. Good/No Jacket. The BRITISH ISLES DEPICTED BY PEN AND CAMERA Cassell and Company, 3 Volumes in 6 books. Specially prepared for Subscription. Undated (early 1900's), appx size. 8 1/2 in x 11in., green part leather and cloth covers with gold embossing, casing gold embossed as well. Set comprising the original 3 volumes bound into 2 sections per volume. This is a very nice set in good+ condition. Text clean and unmarked bindings tight. Gift card, unreadable due to fading of ink pasted inside cover. Covers clean but do show slight signs of wear with rubs at bottom of spine, a couple have slight bumps on edges of cover otherwise good+. As you travel through the British Isles you are treated to not only the history and heritage of an area but a book loaded with maps, color plates, B&W photos and the set contains 6 Rembrandt photogravures. Covers are olive-green cloth with ruled gilt decorative lines to front, gilt decoration and titles to spine gilt casing page edges. Hardback, text clean and unmarked, bindings in various conditions see list of vols. All state "This Edition is specially prepared for subscription and not available through booksellers" Section 1: Vol. 1: Very good condition, cover good binding good pasted down presentation note. Vol 2: Binding cracking at various registers, binding sections however are tight. Vol 3: Binding has slight crack on front hinge otherwise good Section 2: Vol 1: Very good condition Vol. 2: Binding cracking in various sections, however registers are tight cracking are binding rear Vol. 3: Binding cracking in various sections, however registers are tight.
