About This Item

324,000 copies were printed.

This well-known children's magazine issue includes the article about Muhammad Ali and the Black Muslim movement in America. The article is completed with Ali's verse entitled in Russian version as Cassius-Boaster. Joseph Brodsky, the future Nobel prize winner, was the translator.
Unfortunately, we could not identify the original verse describing Ali's two victories over rivals, Sonny Liston and Joe Frazier (1963 and 1965). Perhaps, Brodsky compiled this poem from two or more of Ali's songs based on I Am the Greatest mainly.

Mikhail Belomlinsky (1934-2020), co-designer of the cover of this issue and the illustrator of the first Russian edition of Tolkien's The Hobbit.

Brodsky, #375.

Rare, as all Soviet Brodsky's publications.
