About This Item

London: Passmore and Alabaster , 1897. First Edition. Original Cloth. Very Good/No Jacket. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" Large. Type: Z A four volume set in original publisher's cloth. Complete with gilt embossed lettering and decorative design to the front board and spines. All edges gilt. Bevelled edges. All volumes have several illustrations, many full page, including a frontispiece with tissue guards. Decorative end papers. Some fading to the spines with gilt to the spines somewhat faint (as is usually the case with this set). Some toning to the endpapers (as is usually the case with this set). Slight scattered foxing - chiefly to the endpapers, but largely free from foxing. The extreme tips of several corners turned. Two very slight inks spots to the fore-edge of volume two - bearly noticable. A 2cm expertly closed split to the cloth of the outer hinge at the tail of volume two. Light soiling to the cloth boards/spines in several places and light bumps to the heads/tails of the spines. Essentially, a very good, clean tight complete set of four volumes of C.H. Spurgeon's autobiography.
