London: Darton and Harvey, and W. Belch, 1805. 1st Edition. Leather. 2 vols., pages unnumbered. MAGNIFICENT FULL LEATHER BINDINGS. A set of two large hardcover books handsomely bound in full contemporary black leather with ornate gilt decorations on the boards and spines. All foredges gilt-trimmed. Corners barely bumped and rubbed, and some scratch marks on the rear covers. The spines are worn along the gutters, and the spine ends are a bit worn down. Faint chafing to the gilt foredges. Small bookplate inside both volumes' front covers. The plates have faded a bit onto the facing pages of text. Light foxing throughout, most heavily on the plates. Otherwise, text unmarked. Bindings are secure but need to be handled gently. Briefly outlines the characteristics of all kinds of animal species. Illustrated with 84 plates and featuring two title pages, one illustrated and one with text only. Both volumes measure approx. 12.75" x 10
