About This Item
Paris: A. Maloin. Very Good. 1900. First Edition. Hardcover. Autograph; Contemporary quarter morocco over marbled boards. Inscribed by the author on the half title page to Georges Cain [1856-1919] artist and author, who wrote a number of histories of Paris in the early years of the twentieth century. Someone has tipped an illustration by Cain and a short biography of the artist to the bottom of the half title page with the inscription, and there is a mark from cellophane tape (removed) to the gutter of this leaf and the original front wrapper. The binding is clean and handsome -- with the bookplate of Catherine Teiton on the front paste-down endpaper. Fourth and final series of this interesting work by Augustin Cabanès [18621928] -- a French doctor, historian and author of numerous works of fiction and history. The author relays numerous unusual and provocative incidents of French history, some related to medical matters ; Signed by Author .
