French-language edition with three short pieces by Voltaire, illustrated by Robert Polack. 217 pp. Six watercolor illustrations on glassine. Former library book with markings on spine and inside front and back covers. The cover is in a fragile condition with brown paper starting to peel away from the cream wraps. All six illustrations on glassine are included, although one has pulled free of the binding.
Synopsis
Ever since 1759, when Voltaire wrote "Candide" in ridicule of the notion that this is the best of all possible worlds, this world has been a happier place for readers. Voltaire wrote it in three days, and many generations have found that its laughter does not grow old.
