Middletown, Connecticut: Wesleyan University Press, 1964. First Edition. Hardcover with Dust Jacket. Near Fine/Very Good. 8vo. Pp. x, 276. With two maps. Bibliography. Index. Bound in orange cloth with black lettering stamped on spine. Dust jacket spine a touch faded. Inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper. Inscription reads (to nobody in particular) "With Best Regards, [signed] Pierre L. van den Berghe / Seattle, June 3, 1966". Of Belgian background, van den Berghe was born in the Belgian Congo. He earned his PhD. from Harvard, and spent his career teaching at the University of Washington. Dust jacket is now protected in a removable clear, archival sleeve.
