cat40a. Boston: Little, Brown, 1898. Wrappers issue. Frontispiece map, plus one map and one plate inserted. Rebound in plain brown paper wrappers, with the front panel of the original binding pasted on, the spine lettered by hand. Issued as a volume in the Beacon Series, July 20, 1898. An uncommon issue. Lost race - a 16th century English culture survives in the Antarctic. First published in 1894. The original edition has two maps and six plates.
