New York: Harper & Brothers Publishers, 1906. Book. Very Good+. Hardcover. First Edition. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Hardcover, slate green vertically ribbed cloth lettered in gold and red. Top edge gilt. 290 pages. Illustrated with forty-six full page plates and a frontispiece, with tissue guard intact. First edition, first printing. Howells was an American realist novelist, a playwright and a critic who also produced many charming travelogues of which this is one. Some of the English towns surveyed herein are Plymouth, Bath, Bristol, Canterbury and Shrewsbury, to name but a few. Previous owner's name on front free end-paper. A clean, square, fresh and otherwise unmarked copy. Hinges strong and not cracked, pages supple and all illustrations present. A very nice copy. Very good+. .
