An 1837 novel by Honore de Balzac, a modern limited edition, number three hundred and eleven of eight hundred and fifty five printed on Rives paper. One of the Scenes de la Vie Parisienne in the popular series La Comedie Humaine. Featuring the character of Jean Vincent Bully, a Parisian perfumer, who becomes bankrupt dur to property speculation. With a frontispiece and illustrations in text by Boullaire. Rebound in a half morocco binding over marbled boards, with the original wraps and spine bound in with the volume. The original wraps and spine are bound in with the volume. Externally very smart with minor shelf wear, some rubbing to the spine and extremities. With Paul Alleman bookplate to the front pastedown.
