London: Wells Gardner, Darton & Co, 1896. Cloth. Good. 10" by 8". Not Stated. A scarce copy of the 1896 annual for the popular children's magazine Chatterbox, illustrated with colour plates. A scarce work in the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding. Illustrated with eleven colour plates and numerous in-text illustrations. Collated, complete. Chatterbox was founded in 1866 by John Erskine Clark and was one of the most popular magazines for children in Britain and America and was issued weekly. Chatterbox offered a collection of short stories, articles, poetry and serialized tales. This is a copy of the 1896 bound annual, containing No. 1 to No. 52 of the weekly magazines. In the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding. Externally sound, though faded to the boards and spine, and bumped to the extremities. Front hinge is strained to the title page but is holding reasonably firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, except for tidemarks to the lower corner of pages 391 to the rear free end paper. Good
