New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1927. First Edition. Hardcover. Near Fine/Near Fine. Published as the first entry into Knopf's "Theatre of Today" series, edited by George Jean Nathan. Near Fine in a Near Fine jacket, unclipped (no price), toned at the spine, lightly soiled at the panels. Deco-designed paper on the boards, rubbed at the edges, with labels on the spine and front board. Firmly bound with a slight forward lean, clean otherwise. Watkins's satirical play written during her time covering the crime beat for the Chicago Tribune. Adapted into the famous Broadway musical and later into the Academy Award-winning film of the same title.
