About This Item
Brussels: Editions R. de Rouck et L. De Moor, c. 1940. Lithographed folding map, sheet size 71 x 54 cm, printed in colours, some wear along folds, mostly marginal, blank verso; folding into stained and worn grey printed paper wraps. Stated Carte n° 21 in lower margin. Manchukuo - a Japanese term for Manchuria - was a puppet state of the Empire of Japan in China and Inner Mongolia from 1932 until 1945. The inset of Shanghai at the foot of the map still shows the International Settlement and French Concession. In 1943 the British and Americans agreed to relinquish their extraterritorial rights to China, although the process was complicated by the Chinese Civil War. Two copies located on Worldcat: OCLC: 1400672662 (KBR); OCLC: 888954363 (Zurich). Map
