London: Religious Tract Society Book. Illus. by 8 Chromolithograph Full Page Plates. Very Good. Full-Leather. 16mo - over 5¾" - 6¾" tall. Fine color plates of Heidelberg, Lake Como, Mont Blanc, Venice, New York Bay and Staten Island, Constantinople, Windermere and Bantry Bay, all with a bit of foxing. Each color plate has a short essay about the place. No foxing but slight soiling or age toning to the pages. First edition of this book was 1859, and this is the stated Second Edition, so circa 1863. Full green morocco binding with elaborate gilt designs on both boards, neatly rebacked. Ticket at back confirms this bound by B. West in London. On the spine, raised bands , bright gilt lettering and gilt box designs between the bands. All edges gilt. Intended as a special gift binding , very elaborate Victorian design. Quite scarce in this condition. A lovely gift..
