About This Item

1895. With Photogravure Frontispiece by S. W. van Schaick. New York: D. Appleton and Company, 1895. 12 pp undated ads. Original dark blue cloth decorated in silver and gilt.

First American Edition of this collection of eight loosely-connected tales of adventure ("Count Antonio and the Wizard's Drug," "Count Antonio and the Sacred Bones," etc.). This American Edition is highly sought for its imaginative binding: the hilt of a dagger appears to be coming out of the front cover, while its blade emerges from the rear cover. This copy is in fine condition.
