Contemporary calf with six spine compartments between gilt-rolled bands; red leather label in second compartment with gilt-tooled title. First American edition. Early American Imprints, 1st ser. (Evans), 27057. Attributed to Oliver Goldsmith in the Dictionary of National Biography. Former owner's name at head of title page: "Francis Blakes." Faint circular stamp on title page. Another former owner's name at head of first page of Preface: J.B. Caldwell. In Very Good- Condition: slightly rubbed; lacking upper corner of front free endpaper and title page, without loss of text; light soiling, foxing, and browning; solid.
