Rider Haggard's popular and thrilling adventure novels, set in Ancient Egypt. The first edition, adverts dated January 1889.An exciting adventure novel in the typical vivid style of H. Rider Haggard, 'Cleopatra' follows Harmachiis as he tries to overthrow the supposed imposter Cleopatra, drive out the Greeks and Roman, and restore Egypt to its former glory. Illustrated with a frontispiece, and twenty-eight plates.Collated, all plates are present. Lacking the correction slip to page xv, and the half-title.Sixteen pages of publisher's adverts to the rear. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, with bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities, resulting in a small amount of loss of cloth to the head and tail of the spine. Light rubbing to the spine and extremities. Some minor marks to the boards and spine. Front hinge is starting but firm, rear hinge is strained. Bookseller's label to the front paste down. Spots to the endpapers. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright with some spots. Bound without the half-title and correction slip to page xv. Label to the recto of the frontispiece. Good
