Collected Poems 1928-1953, Spender, Stephen. Published by Faber & Faber, London, 1955. First Edition. Red cloth boards, gilt spine titles. 211 pages including Index of First Lines. Inked name top edge free endpaper; small bump top front edge; no other markings, text is clean without folds or tears, binding tight. Unclipped dust jacket protected in mylar has 3 chips top edge and rubbing to top corner. Stephen Spender (1909 – 1995 ) was an English poet, novelist and essayist who concentrated on themes of social injustice and the class struggle in his work. He was appointed the seventeenth Poet Laureate Consultant in Poetry to the United States Library of Congress in 1965.
