Patrick A. Davis is the author of The General. A graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy and the Army Command and General Staff College, he is a former Air Force major with more than thirteen years of experience. He helped plan and direct U-2 surveillance operations for Operation Desert Storm and flew eleven combat sorties. Currently, Davis is a pilot for a major airline and lives in Roanoke, Texas. This is his second novel.

First line

The thirty minutes or so before sunset is my favorite time of the day, and I'd just returned from work and was sitting in my battered rocker on the porch, sucking on a beer and scanning the paper.
