This dramatic 8 x 12- color photograph features the Enola Gay in the foreground and Bockscar in the background.
The photograph is signed by both aircraft commanders Paul Tibbets and Charles Sweeney. Tibbets, the pilot who flew the Enola Gay (named after his mother) when it dropped Little Boy, the first of two atomic bombs used in warfare, on the Japanese city of Hiroshima; and Charles Sweeney, the pilot who flew Bockscar carrying the Fat Man atomic bomb to Nagasaki on August 9, 1945.
Names and Inscriptions of the crew members are:
"Paul Tibbets. Pilot to Hiroshima, 6 Aug. 1945"
"Chas W Sweeney A/C Bockscar 9 August 45"
Other crew members signing are:
