Bremen: Erhard Bergers. Good with no dust jacket. 1657. Vellum. [20], 418, [1] pp. Folding plate. Errata page. No blanks. In German Fraktur. Vellum boards are age darkened with wear at corners. Bottom front corner bumped. With brown leather spine applied at a later date, paper spine label mostly gone, leather spine has a few small holes and general wear. Endpapers have numerous pencil notations, title page has some marked out old owner inscription and red pencil notations, a crack in the paper from the fore-edge not affecting text, paper quite foxed and browned, folding plate has a small hole in the margin and a 3" crack following down from that affecting text and a short crack at the attachment with an ink notation in the middle of the page, otherwise clean and unmarked. Stitching showing but still solid. Hagen was privy councilor to Christian IV of Denmark, ambassador at the Spanish court and the last Danish commissary in Bremen. The work contains comprehensive material on the Diet of Regensburg and the legitimacy of the Holy Roman Empire. ; 4to 11" - 13" tall; 418 pages .
