New York: Harcourt, Brace and Company, 1925. First American Edition. Hardcover. Very good +/Fair. 332 p. 23 cm. Brown cloth in mylar-covered dustjacket. Jacket has light edge wear, dampstain and pencil mark bottom front, slightly darkened spine. Gilt on book's spine is chipping off slightly.

The author wrote essays on Chaucer, Montaigne, the Duchess of Newcastle, Evelyn, Defoe, Addison, Austen, the Brontes, George Eliot, Joseph Conrad, etc.
